SMGtoy Jedi Council Joined: 06 May 2003 Posts: 785 Location: MWC What: Jedi-OKC Annual Ice Cream Social for the kids at the Integris Childrens Hospital at Spencer. When: August 17th Where: Integris Childrens Hospital, 2601 Spencer Rd. Time: 1:00 p.m. till 4:00 p.m. This is our annual ice cream shindig for the kids, it is one of my favorite events we do, as well as a heck of a lot of fun. As always, I will be buying the ice cream, but we can't make Sundaes without toppings and that's where the rest of you come in. We need syrups, fudge, caramel, strawberry, cherries, whipped cream, cookies, candies, if you like it on a Sundae, they'll like it on a Sundae. If you would like to donate one or more of these items you can bring them to the meetings or contact me or any council member and we will get it picked up. I know a lot of you have to work that afternoon, but if you can make it out, it is a very rewarding experience. I've heard how awesome this event has been in the past, so I would love to be there to experience it first-hand. The Spencer kids are always going to be a high priority for me. They are so special, I love how much we support them! How many people to we need to plan for? ryan Jedi Knight Joined: 17 Jun 2004 Posts: 3573 A word on the event--we do not costume for this event because the kids at the hospital have to follow their counselor's instructions very, very closely. If we show up in costume, they are going to want to approach, meet, etc., and this will only cause the patients grief as they are disciplined in a scenario that should have been a fun, worry-free environment. Also, time is an issue. We have to provide ice cream to 100 children in a little under three hours. There just won't be enough time for them to get their treats, eat, and move on if we are also distracting them with costumes.
