I plan on helping on a panel about Star Wars, and I am voluntering time in the Art Show, but this is on my own, thus I am not technically working with the con commitee.

We are enhancing their program by being there and we have to pay for the privilege to give them added content? Pass. Good luck all have fun. If they have a few passes for us as table workers and so forth let us know and I can bring a bunch of costumes out and props to show and wear./DOC

It goes without saying that each table purchased for the convention is granted X number of passes. However, that doesn't mean the entire club gets a free pass to be there, especially if the free pass is used to experience the convention beyond working the table.

What I meant was have the badges on hand for the workers and we turn them in when we leave so others can use it. SoonerCon really does not have THAT much content other than helping with our table and being part of the family. Any updates? I can take some time off to help if need be?

Do you need a hand setting up or hauling your stuff for the show?

I will be at this event with Darkfaery Subculture Magazine and will be helping with their table since I am also putting stuff on it, but my hubby and I might be able to escape to help out some. Just come get us. I am unsure of my costume this year... And the husband never really dresses up.... Sunday I am planning on having as my family day and will be bringing my kiddos. They are really excited to help out so we could come by with them. If you want to put flyers or something at our booth as well I can do that.

It's the attendees who make the convention, the con is just a foundation for the most part.

Many of us pay to get into Dragon Con and Dallas Con.....but why do we go?
It's not 'just' to meet the stars and spend money...its to hang out and talk shop with other costumers.

They still need attendees to show up and make the con, but to hold the con they need funds which come from sales of passes.

It's enough in advance I'm sure I can set some time aside.
Wonder if the addition of some JP Props to the table would help along with 'have your photo taken in a Jurassic Park Jeep' with donations for Spencers being set up in the parking lot?

I understand that Tony, thats obvious. BUT I would pay for the content of the other shows. Not Soonercon. It has not grown nor has it developed much in some time. The only saving grace has been getting rid of sinnercon. Only JEDIOKC makes it worth considering purchasing a badge to further OUR content.

I don't get the problem then, sorry.

I don't want to turn this into a debate though.
JediOKC wishes to display ourselves at SoonerCon so we either do that via costuming up and paying for entry or getting tables/a table and thus getting access for those working that table.

Bigger cons offer free fan tables, but smaller cons cannot afford that.

Doc has volunteered to help with the table. IS there anyone else who hasn't posted here who wants to and is willing to help out with the Soonercon table?

I can help out at the table (setup, attend and pack up) all day on the 15th.
