Finishing
the Armor, Working on the Helmet, Pulling the Visors - August 11th, 2008

Well...I'm getting closer. Just 3 days left. I added elastic straps to my shoulder bells to keep them from sliding around on my shoulder. (I forgot to take a finished shot. The straps are connected across the middle inside the bell.)
I also painted my chest piece again. When I attached it last week (by myself) it was too low and it made my crotch piece ride too high. Rick helped me fix it on Sunday, but since we moved it, I had to paint the plain areas. I was also able to respace the black buttons on the ab. But this in turn made me have to bondo fill the holes I had drilled for the previous button spacing.
I riveted the shoulder straps to the clam shell (front and back) straps. The armor is now done. I started work on my helmet. I added the mesh to the mouth area and started working on the visor.
The giveaway helmets (which still have to be assembled and painted). I'll get to this Wednesday night.
I pulled the second-try silicon mold off of the aeriator. Once again, the mold didn't fully set up where the black portion gets coated. We think it may be because the black is a type of silicon (which keeps the blue silicon from curing). I put on some gloves and rubbed the inside of the mold with alcohol. It looked better, but I'll have to see tonight if the silicon cured.
I also cut out the visors for my helmet and the giveaway helmet. Regrettably I broke one of them putting it in the helmet, so I'll have to cut another one tonight.
