Working on the Blaster and Assembling some Armor - August 7th, 2008

We continued work on our armor and accessories. 7 days left till the Premiere.

Rick and Len worked on Len's armor all evening. Trimming, fitting, gluing, etc. They got quite a bit done.

Early in the evening some neighborhood kids were playing out on the side street with lightsabers. So Rick and I put our helmets on and walked around the corner to bug them. Next thing you know, they're in my driveway playing. I get Jacen to come out and play lightsabers with them. It was pretty funny.

On to the blaster. I first had to cut out some additional supports for the folding stock. It needed to be much wider than it originally was.

I also added magnets to the ammo cartridge so it wouldn't come off too easy.

I added the end nozzel to the barrel.

I also noticed that the dowel rod was crooked. For some reason the Liquid Nails didn't dry correctly. So I removed the rod, reattached it and used my brute strength to form a super bond at the molecular level. I don't think the rod is going anywhere. While the super bond dried, I work on the barrel sights. I used some coated wire and cut it to fit.

I then drilled a hole in the barrel to attach a cotter pin. This will allow me to swap the short barrel for the long rifle barrel when I finish it.

I also worked on some various greeblies and started working on the folding shoulder stock.
