Continuing The Process - February 17th, 2007

If there's one thing to be said about living in Oklahoma, it's that if you don't like the weather, wait a few days (or months). We went from incredibly hot to unbearingly cold. So, here we are, months later, and we're finally getting to continue the progress with a group again. The holidays didn't help either. Everybody had something going on. But, one year later, and we're getting closer to finishing.

Just an update. The vac table is almost done. I have a line on an oven. I'm going to have an electrician come out and install a 220V in my garage so we can hook it up. We have the materials for the wood frames to slide into the oven. We were originally going to try to build a custom "oven" with heating elements, but our friend Richie (of Richie's Armor), pointed us in the easiest direction, which was to just buy a stove/oven at a thrift store. That's what he does for all his armor. I also got a 5.75 hp shopvac for my birthday which, according to Richie, is enough to pull with. So, we're almost there.

The bucks are pretty close to being done. We're going to call most of them done, do a pull off of them, and fill the pulls with hydrocal. We'll then sand and clean up any problems on the hydro bucks. This will be happening in the next few weeks.

We're also still working on the helmet, but it's getting closer. We've really cleaned up the helmet buck to make it look more accurate. Tom did a good job on his original, but since we've had the time, we have really tried to get the helmet look even better. Enjoy!!!
